I was here for my grandfather's funeral 4 years ago and the ceremony was well-done.

This is for their pet services -
Unfortunately 2 months ago my pet and brother of 18 years died and I decided to give him the proper going away present he deserves after the lifetime of memories he gave us through life's ups and downs. This place is one of the only pet funeral homes in Chicago so we decided to give it a try. My mother and I give it a call and stop by on Saturday 6/6/15 and when we spoke to the director it should've been a sign, but we pushed forward in honor of our fallen family member.
The director didn't know any pricing or even the services they carried. Every question was "I'll have to call this vendor and check that". In the end we went for the basic cremation package which clearly on their website comes with:
Private cremation
A clipping of your pet's fur
A Clay Paw Print Impression
Grief Support Literature
We also picked out an overpriced pewter urn which was $100. After waiting about 2 weeks just to get the ashes back. We come to find out that out of the whole package we only got the cremation and NOTHING else. I specifically talked to the director before we made the deal about the entire package and they still did none of it. Our cat had very long hair at the end yet no fur was clipped, he had huge, pronounced paws and no clay print was made, and we didn't even get the basic grief literature.
When we came to pick it up the director handed us the bag of ashes packed tightly in a tin can and proceeded to walk off. I had to stop him and tell him about everything else which he casually forgot before he proceeded to grab the urn we purchased and make excuses about the other things that were not provided to us. We had to wait another week for him to confirm that there was definitely no prints or fur.
Let's keep in mind the entire service was over $400.
We also decided to purchase a paw print charm later on which was shown on a plaque (which you assume it came with.) He didn't know the pricing so again we had to wait a week to confirm it with his vendor. When he called back with the pricing he apologized about the missing items and said he'll throw in a second charm (at his cost) along with the already EXTREMELY overpriced $200 sterling silver print that is about the size of a nickle that comes with NOTHING ELSE, no plaque for displaying it and the chain is only big enough to fit around a dog's wrist!!!
A month and a half later...still no charms and I'm sure if they come there'll only be one charm. They made sure to charge my card though. At this point I'm going through my credit card's company to make sure I get what we paid for.
Not to mention the cremation was done lazily. They dumped ashes into a plastic bag, I expected some bones, but not HUGE chunks (almost an entire leg is in there as well) that they have.Added April 29, 2017 by Nizel Adams - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Thanks to Lakeview Funeral Home in Chicago for their compassion and patience. I am so appreciative for their quick response and smooth handling of a difficult situation. Ray was so kind, thoughtful and comforting while we made arrangements, and I found the rest of his staff to be no different. He provided the most profound and sweet words of advice for dealing and healing, and even brought a smile to my face more than a few times. They made us all feel like family - loved, cared for and safe. Everything was beautiful. None of us worried about one aspect. Everything was handled for us and it was such a nice relief. I am not sure if I will join, but it is nice to know that their service doesn't end - there is a grief group in the city and it's comforting to know it is available, should I need it.
